Education and Academic Career

Dmitrii V. Pyshnyi graduated from the Department of Molecular Biology, Chemistry Division, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Novosibirsk State University, in 1992. He received his Candidate of Sciences degree in 1998. His dissertation was titled “A new approach to improve the selectivity of interactions of oligonucleotides and their derivatives with nucleic acids.” He received his Doctor of Sciences degree in 2011. His dissertation was titled “Molecular instruments based on complex oligonucleotide constructs.”

Dmitrii V. Pyshnyi has been working at the Institute of Chemical Biology and Fundamental Medicine, Siberian Branch of the RAS, as a Junior Research Fellow, Research Fellow, Head of the Laboratory of Bionanotechnology and Biomedical Chemistry, and Deputy Head of the Institute responsible for Scientific Research. He finally became the Head of the Institute.

In 2016, Dmitrii V. Pyshnyi received the honorary title of RAS Professor. He was elected as the Corresponding Member of the RAS.

Since 2017, Dmitrii V. Pyshnyi has been the Head of the Institute of Chemical Biology and Fundamental Medicine, Siberian Branch of the RAS.

Research Interests

– Hybridization of nucleic acids with oligonucleotides and their derivatives;

– Thermodynamic analysis of the formation of complexes with nucleic acids.

Publications and Academic Advising

Dmitrii V. Pyshnyi has authored and co-authored more than 152 research papers and 16 patents. He has supervised 5 Candidate of Sciences dissertations.

He is a member of the Editorial Board of Tonkie Khimicheskie Tekhnologii [Fine Chemical Technologies].

Awards

Among his honors is the Prize of the Bioorganicheskaya Khimiya journal, which he received in 1997. In 1998, he was awarded the Prize for the Best Publication from MAIK, the International Academic Publishing Company. He was the Laureate of the 7th Contest of Young Scientists of the European Academy of Sciences (1999). In 2009, he received a Merit Certificate from the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, and in 2012, he obtained an Acknowledgment Certificate from the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation Policy of Novosibirsk Oblast. In 2013, he received the Merit Certificate from the Foundation of the Scientific and Technological Park of Novosibirsk Akademgorodok (2013).
