Academic Education and Career
In 1961, Dmitry V. Drobot graduated from the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow Institute of Fine Chemical Technology where he studied “Chemistry and Technology of Rare Elements”. In 1984, he defended his doctoral dissertation in Chemistry. A year later, he was awarded the academic title of Professor.
Research Interests
– Chemistry and technology of rare elements belonging to the III–VIII groups of the periodic table of elements;
– Thermodynamics of heterogeneous equilibria in n-component systems;
– Application of "soft chemistry" methods in the synthesis of functional materials based on rare elements, including nanoscale materials;
– Synthesis, structure, and properties of coordination compounds composed of d- and f-elements and organic ligands;
At the Moscow Institute of Fine Chemical Technology, Dmitry V. Drobot lectures physicochemical analysis and materials science, chemistry and technology of rare and scattered elements, and thermodynamics of heterogeneous equilibria.
Publications and Academic Advising
Dmitry V. Drobot is the author (in co-authorship) of 3 reference books, one textbook, 4 monographs, and 250 articles in Russian and foreign journals. He has 54 copyright certificates and patents. Dmitry V. Drobot also supervised 28 Candidates of Sciences and one Doctor of Sciences.
Awards
In 1997, Dmitry V. Drobot was awarded the L.A. Chugayev Prize from the Russian Academy of Sciences for his work on “Coordination Chemistry of Rare Elements with Organic Ligands.” He was awarded the titles of the Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation (2000), Honored Professor of the M.V. Lomonosov Institute of Fine Chemical Technologies, and Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation. He is a Full Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. He was awarded the title of the Laureate of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences “For the Glory and Benefit of the Fatherland.”
