Education and Academic Career

Andrey V. Blokhin graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry of the Belarusian State University in 1994. He finished the Candidate of Sciences training at the Belarusian State University in 1997.  Andrey V. Blokhin received his Candidate of Sciences degree in 1997. His dissertation was titled “Thermodynamic properties of some 1,1-disubstituted derivatives of cyclohexane and cyclopentane.” Andrey V. Blokhin received his Doctor of Sciences degree in 2005. His dissertation was titled “Thermodynamic properties and energy states of molecules in plastic crystals of organic substances.” Andrey V. Blokhin obtained his Professor title in 2011. Since 2020 Andrey V. Blokhin Head of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Belarusian State University.

Research Interests

- Chemical thermodynamics of organic compounds and inorganic materials; 

- Experimental studies of thermodynamic properties (heat capacity, parameters of phase transitions, saturated vapor pressure, enthalpy of formation);

- Statistical calculations of the thermodynamic functions of organic substances;

- Research of molecular plastic crystals, glasses and liquids of organic substances, low-temperature ionic liquids and nanofluids, high-energy nitrogen-containing substances, complex oxides with a perovskite structure;

- Physical and chemical substantiation of energy and resource saving technologies of organic synthesis; alternative renewable sources of raw materials and fuels.

Publications and Academic Advising

Andrey V. Blokhin has authored and co-authored more than 250 scientific works, 97 articles (60 of them are published in Q1 and Q2 journals), 2 patents of the Republic of Belarus for a useful model.

- Scientific director of the SNIL of the Department of Physical Chemistry “Physical and chemical parameters of substances and processes” (since 1998);

- Member of the Council of the Faculty of Chemistry, BSU;

- Member of the Expert Council at the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus in the direction of “Supramolecular chemistry, chemical synthesis of new substances and materials with a given structure, functional and physicochemical properties. New chemical products and technologies.”
